Diffutherm is an ISO 9001 and 14001 certified manufacturer of chemical products based in The Netherlands. The company has supplied products to the automotive, truck, bus, RV and other markets since 1965.

Diffutherm is also a leading supplier of private label products, the customers being well-known multinationals, focusing on the automotive and building industries. 

Although the company has hundreds of recipes for “standard” products, many products are made to meet the very specific needs of their customers. 
Minimum batch size of such customized products is much smaller than what the large OEMs can offer.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

SOUND DEADENING COMPOUNDS

Dekaphon 9552 (Grey)

Dekaphon 9161 (Beige)

Diffutherm sound deadening compounds can be applied to parts, enclosures and structures to drastically reduce the emission and transfer of sound. 

Substrate can be (stainless) steels, zinc or lacquered sheet metal, all sorts of plastics, polyester, ABS and wood.

These compounds are almost inflammable, water based / free of solvents and can be painted over.  

• engine supports, e.g. for diesel engines

• trains, recreational vehicles

• vehicle parts (doors, motor covers)

• air ventilation systems, HVAC

• garbage containers (e.g. glass containers)

• coating of boiler covers in the heating sector

• machine casings and enclosures

• cladding of building  

• underbody protection of wooden floor panels e.g. plywood panels

SEALANTS

Dekaseal 8936: Poly-IsoButylene (PIB)

Although the chemistry is related to the better known Butyl, PIB has several advantages for the RV manufacturer, user and service manager:

• PIB saves time in production on cleaning. 

• It is much more flexible than Butyl during its entire life en is therefore less prone to cause leakage

• it is easy to remove for repairs, even after many years

Like Butyl, PIB has no adhesive strength: it is purely meant for sealing of mechanically (screwed) connected joints.

Available colors: light grey, grey and black.

Features:

• Very good UV-resistance and ageing properties

• Can be used within temperatures from –30°C to +100°C

• Long-term durability experience, many references

• Long storage life, up to two years

• PIB cannot be painted over and its use is therefore strictly in out-of-sight applications.

In your RV, Dekaseal 8936 can be used for:

• Sealing of glass to rubber

• Sealing of molds and trims

• Sealing of doors and utility hatches

Dekaseal 8869:   Butyl (liquid)

Similar chemistry as our strips but delivered in tubes or larger barrels. Liquid Butyl is somewhat less expensive per kg or lbs and more flexible in use. Excellent for filling large or variable gaps. 

Excess of Dekaseal 8869 can be removed with Dekalin VD2 thinner;

• In general good adhesion on several substrates without the use of a pretreatment

• Can be used at temperatures from –30°C to +100°C 

• Long storage life, up to two years

• Very good UV-resistance and ageing properties

• Proven track records

• Can be painted over

In your RV, Dekaseal 8869 can be used for:

• sealing of moldings and trim

• sealing of doors and utility hatches

Dekaplast:   Round Butyl strips

Our round Butyl strip is much better able to seal gaps with varying gap height compared to the common flat strip. The round shape allows for more deformation with less force. An optional internal wire will help prevent creep.

Available in different sizes, hardness and “stickiness”.

Available colors: light grey, white, black (other colors on request).

Features:

• Overpaintable

• Very good UV-resistance and ageing properties

• proven track records

• In general good adhesion on several substrates without the use of a pretreatment

• Can be used within temperatures from –40°C to +150°C, temporary up to 200°C

• Storage life 1 year

In your RV, Dekaplast can be used for sealing:

• moldings and trim 

• doors and utility hatches

Our MS-Polymers based adhesives and sealants have many advantages over and are an excellent alternative to many Poly-Urethanes: 

• MS-Polymers are free of isocyanate and solvents

• You don't get black hands when working with MS-Polymers 

• Excellent UV resistance

• Overpaintable (wet on wet)

• Pretreatment is easier and less critical

• High green strength (no or little clamping is required after installation) 

Dekasyl MS-1:   Highly flexible Sealant

A highly flexible sealant for absorbing movement and vibration of parts.

Dekasyl MS-2:   Multipurpose Adhesive/Sealant

A sealant/adhesive suitable for a wide range of applications.

MS-2 has similar features as MS-6, but is more flexible for increased sealing capabilities and has less strength for better serviceability. Because of its versatility, MS-2 can replace a range of adhesives and sealants and hence make the manufacturing process simpler.

Available colors: white, off-white, grey and black.

• Window rubber to the vehicle

• Molds and trims

• Utility hatches and doors

• Sunroofs

Dekasyl MS-5/6:  High Strength Adhesives

MS-6 is approved to FMSS 212 (automotive crash test) and used for bonding automotive windscreens in the RV, train and bus OEMs and the automotive after market. 

MS-5 is a more economical alternative for less regulated applications, but with similar properties.

Available colors: black, white (MS-5)

Applications:

• Bonding windscreens direct to the vehicle (without rubber).

• Bonding wheel skirts without screws and hence prevent cracking of skirts due to screws. Additional sealant not required.

Dekasyl MS-7:   Clear Top Seal

A clear sealant suitable for use on painted surfaces.

ADHESIVES AND SEALANTS

Diffutherm’s line of adhesives and sealants is almost endless. These products are be based on numerous components like:

• CR (polychloroprene Rubber), 

• P.I.B. (Poly Isobutene) , 

• BR (Butyl Rubber), 

• NR (Natural Rubber), 

• SBR (Styrene Butadene Rubber), 

• NBR (Nitrile Rubber), 

• SBR (Styrene Butadene Rubber), PUR (Poly Urethane), 

• Acryl and 

• PVAC (Poly-Vinyl-Acetate).

Adhesives:

Adhesives for conveyor-belts, Interior / profile rubber adhesive, EPDM profile rubber, form-parts (molded parts), foam rubber, felt, textile, PUR foam, floor covering and chipboard on metal and wood, fiber-mats, insulation sheets, mineral substrates like concrete and stone, PVC foil and synthetic leather on painted and unpainted metal, glass and hard fiber plates. Adhesives to make self-sticking tape and labels.

Adhesives for PVC and synthetic leather cabriolet tops.

Sealants:

• Sealants to waterproof the stitching seam of cabriolet roof tops.

• Sealants for windows, headlamps, wheel cases, rain strips, sunroofs in cars.

• Sealant for joints and seams in air-conditioning-systems and con­tainers. 

• Sealers for weld seams and between screwed parts.

• Sealants for roof-side panel joints of RVs (see picture).

3. CORROSION PROTECTION

Undercoating / body sealants, based on asphalt or waxes. For excellent corrosion protection and sound-deadening properties. 

Internal coatings, based on waxes. For extreme corrosion protection in cavities.

Overpaintable underbody coatings: Chip stone resistant underbody-coating, overpaintable and fast drying. Based on synthetic resins mixed with rubbers or acrylic.

ADHESIVE FOR SHRINK CAPS

Just as an example for some of the specialties developed and manufactured by Diffutherm: Dekapren 1513/2 and 1513/4 are high quality adhesives to be used to manufacture shrink-caps and bottle caps.

VCI BASED CORROSION PROTECTION.

Metal parts wrapped in paper that is impregnated with this product will not corrode.

RV, Bus and Automotive.

Some products that Diffutherm manufacturers for the RV and Automotive industries include: 

• Plastic staying sealants, both overpaintable (butyl based) and non-overpaintable (PIB based)
   

• Round butyl strips in different sizes with internal wire for form stability, currently supplied to some of the major European automotive manufacturers.
   

• MS Polymer based sealants and adhesives are in many ways a better product than Poly-Urethane: less critical with regards to pre-treatment, no isocyanates, no solvents/aromatics, better UV resistance. MS Polymers are available from a super flexible sealant (MS-1), a multipurpose variety (MS-2) to a automotive approved window adhesive (MS-6). 
  

• PVC flooring adhesives: solvent based, high solids and waterbased.
   

• Waterbased coatings, which can be used to protect plywood at the bottom side against degradation.
   

• Waterbased anti stone chip coatings, which will also protect against corrosion and has sound reduction properties as well.
   

• Waterbased sound deadening coatings that can be sprayed airless or applied with a brush. A flame retarding version is available as well.
   

• Waxes for corrosion protection e.g. of hollow spaces, either with solvents or waterbased types.
